Retirement-Memories

This is the beginning of my retirement.  One week ago yesterday I retired after more than 40 years of of paid professional employment as an educator. I'm still dealing with what this all means. For me, it is a dramatic transition. 

FIRSTS.....

   *I first walked onto a college campus as a freshman at BYU in the Fall of 1960. 

   *I was first paid to teach an early morning seminary class ($40/Mo) when I  
     was an undergraduate at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo  1964-65. 
 
   *My first pay in higher ed was as the Saturday Woodworking lab instructor
     at Cal Poly. 1965-66.
            
    *My first full-time employment in education was in the Church Education
      at Mesa High School ($9,000/Yr) 1968-69.       
 
    * My first higher ed teaching was as a half time Speech Communications
       faculty member at BYU ($13,000/Yr) 1969-1973.

    *My first Community College employment was as Research Coordinator at
      Southwestern College in Chula Vista ($11,000/Yr)  November 1973.
